Before proceeding, please allow me to invite you to check on
this link http://antonantonio.blogspot.com/2015/01/social-theory.html
on “Social Theory”.
The two fundamental functions of Social Theory in
Environmental Management are: (1) It
focuses on the intricacies of the human dimension of environmental processes as
it explains the basic interests of people in how the environment should be
harnesses and utilized for the best ends of humanity; and, (2) It explains what
social theory may possibly do to transform specific environmental features to
suit the purposes of man as it focuses on how people react to certain changes
in the environmental landscape. Social
Theory, in the first function, provides the means for explaining why humans are
shaping the environment in a certain way.
In the second function of Social Theory, it evaluates whether the
actions of man will succeed in shaping the environment by the way he behaves.
These information should come in handy when factoring-in the
dynamic relationship between the environment and man in the management of the
environment. These are, in a nutshell,
the primary function of Social Theory in environmental management.
Just my little
thoughts…
